New Skils- Blogging

New Skills – why blog about blogs?   www.learnnewskillsblog.com

Recently I posted an article about the different types of websites available on the internet.  The feedback was very positive.  Most people never knew the various types of websites and most of you found it helpful when you searched online.

New Skills-the two types of blogs in simple terms

There are basically two types of blogs out there in the blogosphere:

1 is an authority blog

2 the other is an expert blog

New Skills – how to tell the difference

An authority blog spends their time linking out to expert sites.  It goes something like this.  Hey readers, check out the great information on monetizing your blog at www.checkemout.com.  They bring value some value to the contents, but what they are really doing is sending you to an expert on the subject, or certainly someone that had more life experience with the subject so they can offer deeper experience to  the subject in the way of contents.  The long and short of an authority site is to redirect you to the expert so they use what we call- outbound links.

The opposite site of the same coin is the expert blogger.  These bloggers deliver invaluable content, rich dynamic information and real life experience  about the subject you queried when you searched online.  Expert blogs have links coming in to them.  For example, want to learn new skills, then we are the expert blogging site and other bloggers send their readers to read more of what we write about on any particular subject.

Learning New Skills– why it matters to understand the difference

So who cares you ask?  Remember this.  Learning a new skill and skill development is all:  Proficiency, that is acquired or developed through training or experience. A developed talent or ability, something you learn: research skills.

Research is the number one thing people do online.  Sometimes they spend hours and hours researching a subject and even then find limited information.  Think about that.  If you can improve your online searching, you save yourself time and more importantly, find the information you are looking for.

One more thing about new skills andthe types of bloggers and blogs.  Don’t mistake a hyperlink as an outbound link.  Hyperlinks are used for people to find the key words they may be searching to find this particular article.

It’s also important if you want to go to the original source of the subject, the resident expert-  per say.  Then you know whatever else you read there will be rich content, right on point and all in one place.  Most people who search online line do not want to be redirected to other sites.  They are searching for specific information and want to find it one click, not click after click to oh yeah…here it is after 30 minutes of .spinning your browser and wasting your valuable time.

Next time you are on a new blog for the first time, notice if the blogger sends you somewhere else for the basic information, or for more information.  If they do, chances are they are authority bloggers.  Also, when you finally do find everything you want and need on the subject, you know they are an expert bloggers and return to them down the road for more information.

Learning New Skills– who to use expert and authority bloggers

Keep two lists in your favorites area: one for authority blogger the other for expert bloggers.  The next time you search for information, go back to your expert bloggers first.  Chances are if they cover the subject of interest, you will be sure to find everything you need there.  If you need more insight, than you can go to your expert bloggers and see where they take you.

Hopefully knowing about this new skill will help you be better at online searching.

New Skills- determine if your business meets the 7 criteria to generate great wealth

New Skills- The 7 Criteria To Determine If Your Business Has The Power To Generate Great Wealth

New Skills– skills defined again in broad terms

Let’s refresh our memory about what a new skill is again.  A skill is the ability to use one’s knowledge effectively and readily in execution or performance.  Learning new skills like determining if your business concept can generate great wealth is just as important as having accounting knowledge and skills to manage the cash of your business.  Maybe even more important, since you can always hire these basic types of skill sets, but making the determination about the true success of your business model is a new skill you want to possess upfront, not after the fact.

New Skills- Can My Business Model Generate Great Wealth?

So you want to know if your business concept or current business can provide you great wealth.  Will it be hugely successful, or just another ho hum business that drains your energy, sucks up all your free time and provides little return for your efforts?  Or can it at least generate the income you desire to live the life style you choose?

Learn New Skills– a blueprint for generating great wealth in a business

So now you’re asking yourself, is there a blueprint to determine all of this?  Can I find the criteria all in one place and know it will actually determine my success in business?

Well my good listeners, the answer is categorically yes, if you can in fact pass the litmus test.  In fact, I’m so sure that if you can answer yes to any 6 of the 7 questions, I will jump in with you, both feet to joint venture that success if you need help.  Or I will point you in the right direction, to get the help you need.

Before we move forward, let’s look back at history and see what has prevailed in the past and you will see that having the right criteria is essential, no matter what idea or concept you have.

New Skills –statistics tell another story

Typically, approximately 50 % of all business ventures fail in the first year. This number has also been held to increase dramatically in the first five years of running a business, when the number is claimed to rise to as high as 90 to 95 %.

The numbers from the latest research conducted by the Small Business Administration tell a different and more encouraging story. According to the SBA, about two-thirds, or 66 percent last past the first two years, leaving only a third of businesses that fail within these two years. Extended to four years, the number of surviving businesses decreases to only 44 percent, meaning that about 56 percent of businesses fail at the five-year mark.  That is a big difference from the 90 to 95 % previously claimed.  So there is hope.

New Skills- The 7 Criteria Required For A Business To Generate Great Wealth

  1. Is it formulaic- is it a proven formula that others have used to generate great wealth
  2. Does it have large business scope- meaning it is scalable to large proportions: regionally, nationally, globally
  3. High Margins- in excess of 2-3 times cost at a minimum
  4. Low startup investment- based on affordability to you
  5. Professional license required- such as Engineer, medical or professional
  6. Revolutionary- your product or service has never been seen or used before
  7. New, unique and effective- a better twist on something that others have seen or used before, only much more improved

New Skills- The answer yes to 6 of the 7 criteria to generate great wealth

Now, take an unbiased look at your business or business concept.  Chances are if you can’t answer yes to any 6 of these criteria, your opportunity to generate great wealth are significantly diminished.  If that is the case, see what you can do to change your business model so that you can answer yes to these criteria if you want to generate great wealth.

New Skills-  what if I fall short

If you cannot answer yes to 6 of these questions, maybe your business model still have the potential to generate the income your desire to support your lifestyle.  Do what you can to revise the model and address each of the criteria one at a time.  That will surely you give you the best chances for superior results.

…when you decide to build a website or blog and market online you need to start with the end objective in mind.  In this case, it is deciding on which one of these six business models your new online business will fall under:

New Skills- Business Models Onlinethe 5 types of business models online:

  1. Online Commerce
  2. Advertising
  3. Lead Generation
  4. Customer Support
  5. Hobby,

New Skills– Business Models OnlineOnline E-Commerce

The e-commerce business model is probably the most well understood of the five general types of business models, simply because this is where the majority of the money is spent and made. Any website that sells products, services or information fits into this model and each of these sites have similar challenges. While the specifics of how online commerce works differs slightly between sites selling products (such as consumer products like vitamins versus books), those selling services (such as internet marketing or hotel rooms) and those selling information (such as news or financial reports), fundamentally the challenges are the same – attract visitors to the website, show them the value proposition and get them to convert.

New Skills- Business Models OnlineAdvertising

The advertising business model is one typified by attracting visitors to a website who will read content and at the same time, theoretically, view and respond to advertising. News and sports websites, such as CBSNews.com, The Weather Channel, CNN.com and ESPN.com all have this business model. The basis for making money on advertising sites is the ability to sell electronic advertising in this model.

New Skills- Business Models OnlineLead Generation

The lead generation business model is typified by the presentation of information about a product or a service in the attempt to gather contact information for the visitor. The general idea is that, if the visitor is interested enough in the VALUE of the content the website provides, and if the value proposition is clearly presented, the visitor is more likely to provide personal information such as name, email address, and so on. Important performance indicators for the lead generation model mostly focus on the reach, acquisition and conversion end of the customer life cycle as retention is usually driven via external (email, phone) contact after the lead is generated.

New Skills- Business Models OnlineCustomer Service

The customer support business model is typified by a website designed to help visitors answer questions about a product or service without having to pick up the telephone and generate a costly phone call to a support department. For the most part, customer support is integrated into one of the other models already discussed – rare is a website that focuses solely on customer support after a product has been purchased without also trying to get the visitor to purchase additional products (online commerce model) or to generate some kind of lead (lead generation).

New Skills- Business Models OnlineHobby-no commercial intent

Some people have a passion for a subject or craft.  In these cases, the content this business model provides is free for all to share.  They have no interest in selling or commercial intent, but are providing information for like minded people sharing the same things.  Therefore, they have no action required like buying anything or providing personal information so they can later market to you.

New Skills- Business Models OnlineConclusion

Understanding what type of business model you want to launch is the first key to building an online business.  Understanding the key objectives of each business model online is the second key component.  Knowing the types of business models online also helps you be more productive when you search for things you are interested in as well.

Before we continue on the path to market your online business, in the next post, we will address the criteria to determine if your business idea and concept has the power to generate great wealth for you.  There are only 7 key components to a business that can generate great wealth.  Answer the question does my business idea and concept address at least 6 of these 7 points, to determine if your business has the power to generate great wealth for you.  If it does, buckle up, your journey online will produce great wealth, great rewards and independence for you.  If you are interested in starting a business or have an existing one, this is a must read article.
